DALLAS – The Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC), in conjunction with the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) is proud to announce that Comerica Bank (NYSE: CMA) was named “Corporation of the Year” during the 2010 TAMACC Business Awards Conference in Austin, Texas.
The “Corporation of the Year” award, presented to Comerica Bank’s Irv Ashford, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Development and External Affairs, was based on the following criterion:
Level of active involvement with Hispanic Chambers
Accomplishments in the area of procurement with Hispanic businesses
Accomplishments in Diversity programs and practices
Major accomplishments in promoting and fostering growth and prosperity of Hispanic Businesses and the Hispanic Chamber
“We nominated Comerica Bank for ‘Corporation of the Year’ because Comerica has been a true champion of supporting Hispanic businesses and providing funding and financial literacy training for aspiring entrepreneurs,” said Rick Ortiz, GDHCC Chairman of the Board. “Comerica’s support of our Fast Track programs and Business Assistance Centers has helped hundreds of Latinos achieve their dreams of becoming financially independent or owning their own small business.”
“This prestigious award is a testament to our core commitment to diversity and to our hard work throughout the years to foster the growth and success of the small and minority-owned businesses that are so vital to the success of our economy,” said Comerica’s Ashford. “We are honored to receive recognition that highlights our commitment to the Hispanic community.”
Other award categories included Business Man and Woman of the Year and Large and Small Chamber of the Year. TAMACC’s 35th Annual Convention and Business Expo was held in Austin from October 18 to October 19.
