Parkland Hospital built in 1954 has been providing quality health care for over 58 years; Parkland is one of the best managed hospitals in the country but a new hospital is desperately needed.

It seems impossible to deliver 21st century health care in a 1950s facility and yet parkland ranks as one of the best nation-wide. The PARKLAND hospital goal is to have the new Parkland Hospital built by 2014.

At 54 years old, Parkland Memorial Hospital is outdated and 50 percent too small for the current
volume of patients — over a million visits per year. Much of the utilities and infrastructure is in need of replacement. Today’s facility does not meet current code and is inefficient to operate, overcrowded, and functionally deficient. Physical limitations in the hospital often make it necessary to park patients' beds in the hallways while they wait for treatment. Some treatments are now limited to certain days of the week to manage the number of people in the facility.

With the County population expected to double by 2025, Parkland needs urgent renovation in order to meet Dallas County's future healthcare needs. The Goal is to be able to offer advanced services and health care management in a beautiful, new and modern hospital with sophiscated technology and flexibility.

The new hospital will provide much more and be able to care for the high demand of health care for the community of Dallas. The new Parkland will be much more efficient and offer the very best.

Parkland is the primary teaching school for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Parkland trains more than 50% of physicians practicing in the Dallas County.
