Virginia is now an official member of the Big 12. They were a part of the Big East, and they will join the Big 12 this coming season along with TCU. TCU was a part of the Mountain West conference, now that conference along with Conference USA will form a new league with the remaining schools from each conference. The new league does not have a name yet, but it will have lots of schools joining the conference. Any news of this new league forming I will let you know.
The Dallas Mavericks face Linsanity, and Jason Terry was not too impressed by what he witnessed inside Madison Square Garden. The Mavericks battled the NY Knicks, and played pretty well for three quarters. Holding the phoemom known as Jeremy Lin in check, and the Mavs were up ten 70-60 during the third quarter. Then Linsanity took over, and the Mavs were swept into it in front of a wild MSG crowd and a national television audiance. Lin scored 28 points, most of those were key in the Knicks comeback. They turned it up side down on the Mavs who lost 104-97. Jason Terry said that Jeremy Lin sucess is based on the system that Coach Mike D'Antoino has established in New York, not so much his individual talents. Well, that is open for some debate down the road. The truth is Jeremy Lin is the real deal, and it had infused the Knicks franchise with some much needed excitement. The NBA wants the Knicks to do well because its the number one media market in the United States. Look at the Yankees, NY Giants, and the NY Rangers who are doing well. It all about the ratings and how much can the Knicks become a national sports factor that sport fans outside the Big Apple can keep their eye on. The Mavericks has another shot at the Knicks at home in March. And Jason Terry can prove again that its the system not the talent that Jeremy Lin is thriving on.
