In 2014 Ford will celebrate 50 years of the love affair with the Pony car “The Legendary Mustang.”
It’s expected that in 2013 a super refined, and even more improved Mustang will be brought to the masses as a 2014 Model and as a 7th Generation in the book.
The Ford Mustang was introduced to America in the early months of 1964 as a 1965 model, was initially based on the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car, but with the progression of times, Mustangs grew larger and heavier with each model year until 1971–1973 responding to the request of loyal enthusiasts, and market changes, Ford returned the car to its original size and concept for 1974. It has since seen several platform generations and designs, the Mustang , the only original pony car has remained in uninterrupted production over five decades of development and constant revision.
In 2005 Ford introduced a completely redesigned 2005 Model year Mustang at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, codenamed "S-197," which was based on the new D2C platform. Developed under the direction of genius Chief Engineer Hau Thai-Tang and exterior styling designer Sid Ramnarace,[41] the fifth-generation Mustang's styling embraces the Mustangs of the late 1960s. To what senior vice president of design, J Mays, called it "retro-futurism."
All the Mustang's engines were revised for 2011, and transmission options included the Getrag-
Ford MT82 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic version for all engines, and more surprises as the Electric power steering replaces the conventional hydraulic version. The impressive lineup of engines includes a new 3.7 L V6 Aluminum block V6 engine with 24 valves and Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (TiVCT), capable of 305 horsepower and rendering 31 highway mpg.
